Beech-200 STC Bundle

An Easier Way to Put SATCOM on Your Aircraft

The system supports high-def full-motion video, imagery and voice communications over satellite, plus internet in the cabin via Wi-Fi.

Eclipse Technics, the design and certification division of Eclipse Global Connectivity has developed an enormous number of Supplemental Type Certificates (STC), not the least of which is one that adds airborne connectivity to Beechcraft King Air 200 (Beech-200) aircraft. Offering essentially off-the-shelf capability, the package is a complete solution that includes the STC, installation kit, a comprehensive suite of equipment, plus Inmarsat SwiftBroadband airtime – everything required for a Part-145 installation.

The solution was originally developed for a European ISR, Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance, operator’s Beech-200 aircraft,” explains Eclipse Global Connectivity international sales director, Ben Massey. “Weighing in at about 15 kg, the system supports high-def full-motion video, imagery and voice communications over satellite, plus internet in the cabin via Wi-Fi. The complete package makes it easier to implement SATCOM on your plane because it’s fundamentally an off-the-shelf solution.

As with any of Eclipse Global Connectivity’s solutions, additional capabilities that help to improve mission effectiveness are also available. When installed with Eclipse’s innovative video codec system and cloud server platform, the system amplifies situational awareness through secure video and imagery sharing across the mission’s team members. Extending the capabilities of many of the company’s solutions, the Aero+ Software platform is a key enabler.

As Ben points out, as an independent solutions provider, Eclipse’s philosophy addresses selecting the right system, not just any system, “Whilst, we’re generally focused on what operators can do with SATCOM, this particular package, at 650 Kbps, provides the highest data rates over the Inmarsat I-4 satellite network.

Since the Beech-200 STC bundle has already been installed on other aircraft, it reduces lead time, enabling SATCOM capability to be deployed and working in just a few months. With the full package delivered from one trusted supplier, Beech 200 operators can rely on a tested and proven end-to-end solution.

Adds Ben, “Include the fact that operators will have worldwide coverage with the bundle, and those flying special missions flights like ISR, maritime patrol, firefighting, and medevac will find the solution a streamlined way to add SATCOM to their aircraft.
